Logline

To save her historic club, a spirited “Townie” coach must team up with her rival: a high-tech University coach who lives by the numbers. As they prepare for the city’s most prestigious regatta, they learn that the best rhythm happens when you stop analysing the water and start feeling it.

Synopsis

Sammy is the heart and soul of the Town Boat Club—a place built on grit, laughter, and a fair amount of tea. Her world is a sharp contrast to John’s, a former rowing prodigy who now coaches the University’s elite “Gown” crew from a high-tech, glass-walled Hub. While John optimises his scholarship athletes with sensors and data, Sammy coaches her local “Townies” with heart and history. But when the Town Club’s weathered boathouse begins to collapse, Sammy is forced to do the unthinkable: move her crew and her beloved wooden boat, “Rosie,” directly into John’s pristine, clinical sanctuary.

The resulting culture clash is instant, but as the two rivals are forced to work side-by-side, the ice begins to melt. Away from the monitors, John discovers his data-driven life is completely empty, while Sammy realizes that beneath his cold exterior beats the soul of a real rower. Everything builds to the high-stakes Town & Gown Regatta beneath the spires of King’s College. When the University crew falters under the pressure of their own metrics, Sammy and John must unite their crews to prove that “feeling the boat” beats analysing it—discovering in a breathless finish that the perfect stroke, and the perfect match, is found in the heart.

THE VISION

The narrative celebrates the grit and grace of British rowing, pairing the high-stakes “Town vs. Gown” rivalry with a grounded, soulful romance. It is a visual celebration of the River Cam—from the high-tech training centres to the ancient willow-lined banks.
