A Certain Method

A Certain Method

In Development | Drama / Psychological Thriller

Logline
A homeless actor walks into a closed cafĂ© for an audition that tests how far he’ll go to get the part.

Synopsis
Remi, a struggling actor secretly living out of train station bathrooms, arrives at an after-hours audition with an enigmatic director named Ian. Desperate to maintain the illusion of a stable life and seeing this as a final opportunity to fulfil his ambitions, Remi commits to a rehearsal that quickly spirals. As the director insists on “authentic” stakes, the line between performance and survival dissolves, forcing Remi to confront the uncomfortable truth of what he is willing to become.

Director’s Vision
At its core, A Certain Method is an exploration of the “cost of entry.” The film examines the psychological extremes of survival, questioning how far an individual will go when faced with the prospect of having nothing, and whether the person who emerges from such an ordeal remains fundamentally the same.

The Project

A Certain Method is a visceral exploration of the modern gig economy and the erosion of creative livelihoods. Shot in 2.35:1 Anamorphic, the film utilises a stark, claustrophobic visual language to mirror the internal state of its protagonist.

The project builds on the collaborative foundation established by director Imoje Aikhoje and producer Ariel Artur, centring on a performance-driven narrative that challenges the audience’s perception of truth and desperation.
